SESRIC Internship Program

The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) offers internships to highly motivated and successful young people interested to learn more about the economic and social issues that affect communities around the Islamic World. The programme provides university students opportunities to study and work that provide hands-on experience, as well as to improve their skills and experience of working in an international environment.

Internships are available during each period of the year, which is open to students who are either nationals of the OIC Member Countries or belong to a Muslim Community. Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree and be already enrolled in a full-time graduate study programme pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree.

The Internship Program seeks candidates in the following fields: statistics, economics, business, finance, international relations, politics, public administration, human resource development (public health, education, population), social science (anthropology, sociology), agriculture, environment, private sector development, as well as other related fields. Fluency in one of the official OIC languages (Arabic, English or French) is required for above mentioned fields. SESRIC Internship Program also seeks candidates in translation (English to Arabic, English to French, English to Turkish and vice versa), IT related fields (network management and web-based software development), graphical design, desktop publishing and library management.

The interns are, according to their background, expected to fulfil the following scope of work duties:

  • Collate, process and analyse statistical data
  • Conduct analytical research on various socio-economic issues
  • Design and implement training and cooperation projects and programs
  • Prepare and manage agenda of meetings and workshops
  • Assist in the translation of technical documents
  • Perform tasks related to the IT and Publication Units as well as the SESRIC library.
  • Building and following-up effective communications

Interns are responsible for their own living accommodations. Internship is available only at SESRIC headquarters in Ankara, Turkey, with a minimum duration of four weeks. Successful interns will be awarded SESRIC Internship Certificate.
